OSC is cool

One thing I've started doing, once I had the idea for this, was to have a spare laptop with a wireless keyboard running a trivial Python Qt app that forwards OSC messages triggered by presses on that secondary keyboard. By using the function keys and shift, I have 24 pages of potential OSC messages sendable, and moreover I can have custom code for each page (e.g. I've got one where 1234..0qwerty select SWS colours, and iop switches between applying them to track, item, take). This means that many more things can be mapped to buttons ,and without the whole shift-control-alt-w stuff you have when trying to shoehorn all your shortcuts into a single qwerty keyboard.

So for example the f1 page in the Midi editor, I have 098765 selecting grid sizes, 1,2 halving/doubling ,and 3,4 for triple and third. But basically it gives much freedom to assign many more shortcuts than you can with a single qwerty keyboard. OSC is cool, as is the simple action list approach Reaper takes, and the capacity to make compound actions and scripts. When I hop into Live or Bitwig, I really miss the capacity to do stuff like that.
