Reinstalling MacOS

I have had fun trying to reinstall macos on a fresh Ssd on an old MacbookPro (MacbookProA1278). The internet recovery only installs MacosMountainLion, not anything newer. Trying to use a MacbookPro1278 running MacosCatalina ran into a problem with TwoFactorAuthentication. I read online that you can append the security code to the password and try logging in again, though by that point I'd given up for the day in frustration. DamnYouApple.

It seems the next alternative to try is to download an installer for macos on a running Mac and create a BootableInstallDisk.
