This is in no way comprehensive.
Native
Commercial
- u-he All work great in Linux.
- pianoteq Works great in Linux. I've used Pianoteq as the sound for my classical piano practice since v3. Back then, I could only get 64 sample latency under Linux, not Windows.
- renoise redux like with renoise, works great in Linux.
- Tracktion F-EM and Collective work (I have nothing else of theirs to try)
Free
- Surge XT
- Vital
- DSP56300 Emulations including Osirus and Ostirus
- Cardinal (Vcv-as-plugin Rack Fork) The paid tier of VCV has a VST plugin, but not the free one.
Wine
Using yabridge
- Xfer You need to disable
d2d1.dllinwinecfgand usewinetricks gdiplus(see Wine Audio Plugin Notes) - KV331 Synthmaster Plugins
- Some Arturia (including Pigments)). I'll try other ones out when I have the chance. I have V Collections 3, 6 and 8, and FX Collections 1 and 2. Spark 2 doesn't work.
- Camel Audio: Camel Phat, Camel Space, Alchemy (these are no longer available since Apple bought Camel and killed these plugins outside of Logic X)
- Cherry: CA2600, haven't tried others yet
- FL Studio (as DAW and as plugin)
- GForce: Imposcar2; Oddity 3, Minimonsta 2, Imposcar 3 all have issues.
- Korg M1, Wavestation, Triton and Triton Extreme, Polysix, Mono/Poly, MS20, work fine* Sonic Academy ANA2. Kick2 probably also works but I've hit my activation limit.
- Adam Szabo JP6K
Need dxvk
Use winetricks dxvk. The following don't update properly with the built-in dxgi.dll but do
work with the dxvk one.
- Cableguys audio works but without
dxvkthe UI doesn't update - GForce: Imposcar3, Minimonsta2, Oddity3, DMX
So far this works for a T470s with Intel graphics and Kubuntu 24.04. I have been less successful with 22.04 and nVidia.
What Doesn't
- Spire crashes
- Arturia Spark 2 crashes
- Korg ; ARP Odyssey and Prophecy (UI doesn't update with builtin
dxgi.dll, and doesn't appear withdxvk) - Superwave don't work
- Tone2 Icarus 1 (got via Computer Music) doesn't work.
GUI Updating Issues
This seems to be a common thing. They rely upon dxgi.dll. The dxvk version doesn't work,
and the built-in one has the updating problem. I presume that, at some point, the Wine project
will update dxgi.dll to one that does work for apps like this.
